The Shrieking Violets formed in Manchester in 2007, and played in towns and cities including Manchester, Salford, Preston, Carlisle, Norwich, Glasgow, Birmingham, London and Barcelona. From bedrooms and basement rooms below pubs to a medieval hall and a scout hut, the Shrieking Violets have supported and shared line-ups with bands including British Sea Power (Leeds and Kendal), Casiotone for the Painfully Alone (Manchester Deaf Institute), John Maus (Manchester Kro Bar), Francois (London), Thomas Truax (Manchester University Students Union), Laura J Martin (Manchester Fuel) and Let’s Wrestle (Manchester Star and Garter).
Natalie Bradbury sings, composes and plays guitar and violin, with help, support and dedication from friends. Members have included Dominic Oliver, Lauren Velvick, Catriona Gray, Stuart Hales, Sarah Hill, Tom Whyman and Tristan Burke.
Influenced equally by punk, folk and pop, the songs are autobiographical and highly personal, capturing intimate musical snapshots of places, people and experiences.
I also played violin and sang backing vocals in Planet Earth from 2007-2008, in towns and cities including Norwich, Hove, Bristol, Manchester, Salford and London, in support of bands including Laura Marling (Manchester Academy Two), Jeffrey Lewis (Manchester and London), Slow Club (Manchester Night & Day) and Peter and the Wolf (UK tour).
